Should Your Moving Plan Include Storage Pods?

When it comes to moving stuff, one of the most popular methods that many movers seem to be using is known as the usage storage pods. With this type of storage, you are basically given a large but portable storage container that is rented by the day and allows you to keep all of your possessions safely inside. While this idea may sound pretty awesome, is it actually worth it to pursue this option or would something else be better? Let's see.

Storage Pod Cons

Unfortunately, one negative thing associated with these pods is the fact that many apartment complexes have certain restrictions on where you can place your pod. Also, these pods may come along with additional unplanned costs. For one thing, you will need a parking permit in order to keep your pod out there on the street. Secondly, using a pod is normally more expensive that renting a U-Haul truck. Some pod companies may also not be able to give you the final total of your bill until everything is completed because rental time isn't definite. Because of this, people have sometimes said that they have received additional charges that they were unaware of at first.

Pros of Storage Pods

Many people adore the idea of using these pods in conjunction with their storage needs because the pods can simply sit outside of your house for as long as you need them to. If you feel like you are short on time, all you need to do is call up the rental company and add a few days, no questions asked. For people doing a home remodel or painting their house, this type of storage space is ideal. Also, utilizing pod space is typically much cheaper than having to hire a full moving company to transport all of your stuff.

One reason that many people seem to love these pods for storage is because you can simply keep them sitting outside of your house for as long as you would like. If you feel like you could use a few extra days, you simply call the rental company up and let them know. This type of storage is also great if you are working on projects like remodeling your home or painting a new room. Another great pro to these pods is that if you are moving somewhere far away, pods are normally much cheaper than hiring a full moving company to help move your stuff.

Final Words

Should storage pods be implemented into your moving routine? Does it sound like a good or bad idea? As we have seen, these pods have both good and bad qualities. On one hand, you can keep the pods out on the street for as long as you need to and they can go almost anywhere. Unfortunately, they may be tied to hidden costs and you need a permit to keep them on the street. The decision on whether or not to use these really depends on you and your project's needs.
